THE RIGHT WORSHIPFUL THE MAYOR - COUNCILLOR ALLAN EWART Councillor Allan Ewart (DUP) was elected Mayor of Lisburn City Council at the Council's Annual Meeting on Monday 22nd June 2009.
He was elected to Lisburn City Council in May 2005 and is a member of the Democratic Unionist Party. He is married to Denise and they have one daughter, Lynne married to Philip and the most recent addition to the family is the Mayor's grandson baby Alfie born on 30 July 2009. Councillor Ewart is the Director of Administration and Finance of the Democratic Unionist Party, responsible for the day to day running of the political party. As Mayor, he may sit on all Council Committees and also chairs Monthly Meetings of the Council which normally take place on the last Tuesday of each month. Councillor Ewart also represents Lisburn City Council on a number of outside bodies:- - Member of the Northern Ireland Local Government Association - Vice Chair of the NI Joint Council for Local Government Services (Employers) - Director of Lisburn Leader - Director and Chair of the Local Action Group of Lagan Rural Partnership - Director and Chair of Lisburn City Centre Management - Chair of Lisburn Historic Quarter Partnership - Chair of Bridge Street Townscape Heritage Initiative He is also a member of the Northern Ireland Library Authority.
