Lisburn City Council, the Department for Social Development and Lisburn City Centre Management have commissioned consultants GVA Grimley to produce a Masterplan for Lisburn city centre. In recent years Lisburn has been one of the fastest growing parts of Northern Ireland’s economy. However the city centre lacks many of the features that shoppers, businesses, residents and visitors would expect in a growing and prosperous city. The principal of the masterplan is to identify how the full economic potential of the city centre can be realised, through setting out a clear vision and framework for investment in the future. Members of the public are invited to view the draft Masterplan proposals and provide their valued input into the process. A public consultation period will run from 28 August for six weeks until Friday 9 October 2009. Information boards displaying the draft Masterplan can be viewed throughout the consultation period at two locations: First Floor, Lisburn City Library, Linenhall Street, Lisburn Opening Hours: Monday and Tuesday 9am – 8pm Wednesday 12 Noon – 10pm Thursday 9am – 9pm Friday and Saturday 9am – 5pm Lagan Valley Island, The Island, Lisburn Opening Hours: Monday to Saturday 9am – 9pm Please Note The display at the Library will be staffed by GVA Grimley Consultants on 9 September 2009 from 14.30 until 16.30 to enable any members of the public to discuss the proposals in more detail.
