EAR-PIERCING, ELECTROLYSIS, TATTOOING AND ACUPUNCTURE  Byelaws made on 22 January 1991 by Lisburn Borough Council under the provisions of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Northern Ireland) Order 1985, require the registration of premises which carry out ear-piercing, electrolysis, tattooing or acupuncture.
There is a single registration fee of £25, and a certificate of registration is issued. An application form is available to download. The following requirements must be met prior to registration: - cleanliness of all structures in the premises,
- suitable arrangements for waste disposal,
- sharps disposal of needles,
- no smoking in treatment areas,
- use of sterile needles, instruments and other equipment,
- constant supply of clean hot and cold water,
- adequate storage facilities.
