THE HEALTH AND SAFETY TEAM 
The Health and Safety Section within the Environmental Health Service of Lisburn City Council consists of: An Environmental Health Manager (job-share) 1.5 Environmental Health Officers 1 Health and Safety Advisor for Council Health and Safety. The section enforces Health and Safety in approximately 1700 businesses throughout Lisburn City area. The team are responsible for: - Health and Safety inspections for compliance with the Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and regulations made under the Order. This involves assessing work activities, identifying hazards and taking action to remedy any problems discovered. Where a planned inspection of a business has been carried out the premises is scored to identify the frequency of inspections. The premises is then assigned a risk rating. This rating remains until the next planned inspection, when a further score is given.
- Carrying out campaigns and initiatives to raise awareness of Health and Safety issues.
- Investigation of reported accidents.
- Investigation of complaints regarding work places.
- Provision of advice and guidance to businesses on Health and Safety issues.
- Provision of Health and Safety training
