THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT UNIT

The Economic Development Unit in Lisburn City Council is involved in a number of distinct areas of operation aimed at developing prosperity throughout the City of Lisburn.  This is achieved through creating opportunity, supporting local businesses and encouraging new investment.

The Council recognises the importance of economic development initiatives to drive forward the local economy across Lisburn and the Unit has played a pivotul role in securing significant investment for the City.  

Over £1.4m was awarded to Lisburn City Council as a result of a successful application to the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the Programme for Building Sustainable Prosperity Measure 3.1

This grant assistance will be match funded by the Council on a 50:50 basis and will be allocated to business and infrastructural development within Lisburn Council Area during the period 2001-2005. 

The Economic Development Unit currently facilitates a Small Business Project Team and a Vocational Training Project Team.
