LISBURN CITY CELEBRATES 400 YEARS!

As part of Lisburn's 400th Anniversary Celebrations Lisburn City Council is hosting a wide range of events and activities to mark this remarkable milestone in the City's history.

Chrismtas Skating Rink, Castle Gardens, LisburnSkating Rink Launch

Friday 11th December to Sunday 3rd January 2010

Lisburn City Council is proud to present a Christmas Skating Rink during the festive season in Castle Gardens, Lisburn.  The Council is sponsoring this perfect family treat over the holidays as part of its 400thAnniversary celebrations.

Christmas wouldn’t be complete without a visit to Father Christmas himself and Santa will be in residence in his Grotto in Castle Gardens from the 11th December right up to Christmas Eve.

Make sure you, your family and friends visit Castle Gardens to enjoy the festive atmosphere to be found in Lisburn City this Christmas. For more information please click here.

BBC Proms in the Park

BBC Proms in the Park comes to Hillsborough this September.For the first time, the hugely popular BBC Proms in the Park was staged in the grounds of Hillsborough Castle and featured performances from acclaimed flautist Lady Jeanne Galway, who joined her husband on stage for a performance of '76 Trombones'; Newtownards-born soprano Rebekah Coffey; West End singer Peter Corry and the 1st Old Boys Silver Band from Belfast. Royal Visit by the Duke of York

HRH the Duke of York met by the Mayor, Councillor Allan Ewart arriving for his visit to Lagan Valley Island.The Mayor of Lisburn City Council, Councillor Allan Ewart, was honoured to greet His Royal Highness, the Duke of York, on his visit to Lagan Valley Island.

The Mayor was especially delighted that the Duke of York visited Lisburn in the Council’s 400th year of its year-long anniversary celebrations.
