A delegation from Lisburn City Council recently welcomed Mr Bartosz Tymkowski, Second Secretary, Trade and Investment Section, Embassy of the Republic of Poland to the City of Lisburn.
Mr Tymkowski was visiting the City to speak to local businesses at a workshop that comprised part of the Council’s latest Central and Eastern European Trade Development Programme. The Programme, facilitated by Lestas Consulting, and match funded by the EU Sustainable Competitiveness Programme, has recruited 12 local companies who are keen to explore export opportunities in Central and Eastern European markets, including Poland.
Mr Tymkowski provided an overview of the current economic conditions in Poland, and outlined the benefits of doing business in the country, with key sectors including the automotive industry, metals, engineering and information technology.
Councillor Jenny Palmer, Chair of the Council’s Economic Development Committee, said: “The Council has assisted local businesses to access this key market through previous trade development programmes, and is looking forward to exploring further opportunities for our local companies this time around. The programme is already fully subscribed which serves to demonstrate the demand and interest from local businesses keen to gain new knowledge and skills as well as securing new sales and developing new long term strategic partnerships throughout Europe.
“Council led business support initiatives such as this are helping local businesses to become more outward and forward looking, with companies realising that in order to grow and safeguard local employment, the world has had to become a smaller place to do business,” she concluded.
