VISION STATEMENT

“Lisburn City Council aims to develop access to, appreciation of and participation in the arts at the highest level so the highest number of people can enjoy the highest range of art-forms on as high a scale as possible.”

Painting classes and workshops will commence in January 2004.

MISSION STATEMENT

“Island Arts Centre is one of Northern Ireland's premier arts venues and exists to provide a balanced and accessible programme of arts related activities to encourage active participation and support from the community it serves through investment in the conception, production and promotion of the arts at the highest level.”

ISLAND ARTS CENTRE POLICY OBJECTIVES

  1. The Arts Section aims to provide and promote a balanced programme of arts activities to enrich and stimulate the lives of the community, which it serves.

  2. The Arts Section aims to further enhance the image of the Lisburn City by attracting visitors to its wide range of arts activities.

  3. The Arts Section aims to sustain the highest possible standards in the arts being produced in the Lisburn City from whatever cultural aesthetic or community it originates.

  4. The Arts Section aims to provide access to all art disciplines with direct involvement from the community it serves.

  5. The Arts Section aims to provide educational projects to schools and the wider community with an emphasis on people with Special Needs, under the expert guidance of professional artists.

  6. The Arts Section aims to nurture artistic development by contributing to the development of new and original work by commissioning artists either directly or in collaboration with other organisations.

  7. The Arts Section aims to act as an effective advocate for increased funding of the arts and to promote the greatest benefit from such funding, through partnerships with the public, private sectors and other relevant agencies.

  8. The Arts Section aims to support and provide training in all art forms to art practitioners assisting artists to bridge the period between training and establishment in the professional world.
