CELEBRATION OF SUCCESS 2010-2011

The Celebration of Success Event is an annual event which the Council hosts to give recognition to the many business successes which have been achieved by local companies over the last twelve months who have participated on a wide range of Council funded business development programmes.

The event was held in on Thursday 7th July, and gave business and civic representatives an opportunity for you to network and learn about local business successes, as well as hearing from the delivery agents who provided a brief overview of their respective programmes and key outputs achieved.

At the event, Alderman Allan Ewart, Vice-Chair of the Council's Economic Development Unit, thanked all the businesses in Lisburn who have participated on Council-funded initiatives over the past year, and highlighted the key results from all programmes over the past 12 months.

Evaluation reports received back so far have indicated the following key outputs:

in excess of 300 new sales meetings were facilitated
actual new sales of £16,970 have been generated
anticipated future sales worth in the region of £1,410,000
an additional 1.5 million euro within the next eighteen months
quotations submitted worth £303,762
one programme is predicting 9 – 12 new jobs being created
Lisburn Entrepreneurs Network has average 35 local businesses attending each session
Council's first large scale Meet the buyers event saw 7 buyers meet with 30 local suppliers over one day, which resulted in:
25 follow up meetings with Buyers
33 tendering/quotation opportunities
4 site visits arranged
