2011-2012 Programme

Lisburn City Council launched the third phase of its Trade Development Programme to Central and Eastern Europe on 8th December 2011 in Council headquarters at Lagan Valley Island. To date as part of this project the Council has assisted local businesses to explore new business opportunities in Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary.
Thre next workshop will be held on the 7th February in Island Civic Centre, Lisburn with a market trade visit to Bulgaria commencing week beginning the 19th March 2012. There are currently 9 businesses taking part on the programme, with 3 places remaining.

2010 - 2011 Programme
The most recent trade development programme was delivered earlier in the year which supported local businesses in exporting to Central and Eastern Europe. The programme was managed by Lestas Consulting and funded through the Council and the EU under the Sustainable Competitiveness Programme for Northern Ireland 2007-2013.
Eleven local companies participated in the programme with key outputs including 86 individual business meetings set up across 6 different countries, 11 new strategic partnerships developed and anticipated new sales in the region of £2.9 million.

The following companies participated on the 2009 Lisburn City Council Central and Eastern European Trade Programme:
The 2009-2010 programme assisted 8 businesses to target new business opportunities in Poland and Slovakia, as part of a five day trade mission. The companies participated in a total of 56 sales meetings, and 3 networking events, with 24 new partnerships identified at this stage as well as actual sales worth £44,000, and anticipated new sales worth £740,000 within 12 months.
